The LORD Is My Shepherd

23The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. 

Almost finished with a book entitled One Minute After You Die by Erwin W Lutzer. It's

a fine book that I think you would find enlightening. Obviously, it deals with what we

can expect immediately following the end of our natural life here on earth. Despite the

best efforts we all make to push this death thing under the mat, it will happen to us

all. Also obvious are the ramifications surrounding where, exactly, we will be one minute

after death.

I wouldn't want to ruin your opportunity to read and enjoy this book, but let me just

briefly touch upon a few items I gleaned from reading.

-We will immediately regain consciousness and be aware of where we are. 

-We will, regardless of where we are, understand the reason why we are there. God's

judgement is just, completely so. Those unfortunate enough to face eternal existence

without God will be aware that His judgement was deserved.

-There will be people we have known and new people to meet. Relationships will be

different and we will remember and be able to look back on our lives. By the way, we

will NOT wish to return... things will simply be too wonderful.

-Some of those we wish to be with us will be and some will not.

-We will have jobs that take advantage of our talents and gifts; yet, work will be

and feel quite different.

-Lots of joy in Heaven; void to sadness, sin, tears, etc.

Eternity is such a weird term, especially since time here on earth is limited

and fleeting. The eternal choice of accepting Jesus remains one of such vast

importance. We need to be working to share the grace of the gospel with all

those who we encounter when given the chance.

Death has been defeated by the life, Resurrection and Ascension of Christ

Jesus. He will be there to meet those who love and trust Him. In many ways

it will be a very long sixty seconds.
